İstanbul Halk Dansları Derneği hayatlarının büyük bölümünü halk dansları ile iç içe geçirmiş, Avrupa başta olmak üzere dünyanın farklı ülkelerinde ki uluslararası halk dansları festivallerine katılmış, ayrıca 2007 ve 2008 yıllarında düzenlenen Uluslararası Yeşilköy Halk Dansları Festivallerinin organizasyonlarında görev alan tecrübeli dansçılar tarafından 2010 yılında kurulmuştur.

Derneğimiz 2007 yılında Yeşilköy Kültür adıyla faaliyetlerine başlamış ve 2010 yılında ismini değiştirerek İstanbul Halk Dansları olmuştur. Derneğimizin kuruluş amacı halkoyunlarımızı ve kültürümüzü yurtiçinde ve yurtdışında tanıtmanın ve katıldığımız festivallerde buluştuğumuz gruplarla dostluklar kurmaktır.Grubumuz şu an 30 dansçı ve 3 müzisyen ile halk dansları çalışmalarına devam etmektedir.

İstanbul Turkish Folk Dancing ensemble was established in 2007. Turkish Folk Dancing Ensemble is being active  under the leadership of Engin Bakkal, the president of the association. Our vision is to make new generations know and love their traditions and their dances unique to their countries. Our  association is composed of dancers who love to dance and are able to resemble their country in abroad festivals. 

For many years, we resemble our country Turkey and exhibit our folk dances successfully. :

In 2010 -Festival in Poland.

Our exhibition is a mixture of different cultural dances of Turkey such as Payduşka, Çayda Çıra, Şemmame, Bitlis, Karadeniz. Beside of this mixture, in our repertoire there are Artvin and Üsküp. 

İstanbul Turkish Folk Dancing Ensemble contiues to show different dances in different countries, in different festivals. Each member is aware of the heritage of the honorable history of the ensemble and each member dances with the concious of the national respect for national dances. Every single member takes place in this association by wanting by heart and they are all volunteers who have been experienced in different festivals in different festivals. Some of them are grown up, some of them are novice but their common point is the love for dance.
